Default Car Colors

Since the weather is starting to warm up, it's getting time to decide on a color to paint my car. ianm12 and cjm promised to help me do it once it got warm and now that the days will be getting longer it will only be getting warmer. With that said, I figured I should start thinking about a color now in order to give it some time to set in before we go to do it.

BRP: Well, that's the thing. On one hand I just want to respray it black, maybe add some purple fleck or something to it, call it beautiful and maybe get some gold rims. On the other hand, I wanted to paint it something different. Maybe, I could do a gold color, and then do black rims. I am also unsure of what I want to do with the trim that runs along the door panels. I'm not sure if I just want to delete them and fill in the holes and paint it or if I want to paint them the same color as the car? Or do I want to leave them the plastic color they are or what.

Denver: Yeah, they are my brothers. I have been wanting to paint my car for a long time because it has really shitty paint and they promised to help me do it once it got warmer as a Christmas present this year.

On a side note, I wouldn't be striping it down to paint it. So I have to keep in mind that the interior metal and the engine bay etc would be a different color if I painted it anything but black.

I would either do it black and call it a day or do something really different but if you do that then i dont know, it usually is not something people do as a "serious" thing if you get what im saying?!?! not too much of a fan of the gold idea, think mid 90's toyota camry's that grandpas and shit roll around in. that's right those are all that gold/champagne color (that color used to be the most popular color for cars in the mid 90's and my grandpa had one so mehhh)

keep it black. go with the s2000 black its got some different color specs in it its called berlina black that way your door trim and engine bay and everything else still match.

I hate to take things literal here.......but are we talking like painting it in a booth with a compressor & automotive paint or rattle canning it? Painting & body work is no joke at all......just wondering if you guys have experience doing this......??

Definitely NOT rattle canning it. We have a spray gun, all necessary tools, body filler, tools to wet and dry sand, plastic to seal and to put up around the garage etc etc. This isn't a Wal-mart paint job. This is a go-pick-out-cans-of-paint,-mix-it,-do-serious-sanding-and-painting paint job. We've done it once before and it came out a LITTLE orange peely, but I think we're A) more serious about my car and B) more experienced.

As for the color, I wouldn't do champagne-buick-gold. I'd want GOLD-gold. Not gangsta blang gold, but a classy, bright, saturated gold. I didn't think I'd get much support for that. I think I want to do a midnight black or a like ianm12's purple black. I like the gold/sports bronze rims idea, but I'm not too keen on the SI blue / ISF blue

I'm kind of digging the Berlina Black, from some pictures I have seen. Keep in mind, I'm not spending bank on this paint job. It's a 97 civic dx with no real mods and I'm a poor college kid haha.

Side note: How do you guys feel putting an si bumper/front lip/eyelids on it?

I KIND of like this car, it's not exactly the right gold.

The color is like... "Lemongrass" as my girlfriend called it, so that means no to that. Overall I think black would be best, I guess. I just want the car to stand out while being clean and classy. No bright yellow with yellow and blue tweed interior.

You never know BRP, and you don't stand to gain anything unless you ask!

Regardless, thanks to everyone so far with all the help and suggestions, it's still a long way away and I still have a lot of deciding to do but it all helps!

That would be pretty fkin sweet if one day when it gets warmer if we could get in there, haha. No rush though, we're not in a huge rush to do it yet. I would greatly appreciate the hook up, though. My mom probably would, too. We'd be using her garage where we all grew up and my guess is she's kind of fond of having her car covered-

That would be sick because our garage paint jobs look pretty good but a paint both would make it perfect. We would have to tow the car up there all prepped or something though.

My vote it black. Then you don't have to work about mismatched or missed areas.

Okay, so you vote black, but there are thousands of black colors out there. And I am sure we could arrange some way of towing it-

Oh and another thing I would of is I should probably locate a new hood, don't you think, Ian? It's not exactly flush-

Fix it or get a new one but a new one would be easier.
