What a tease, but it's so cool to see real world shots of it. The good news is, the 2 years until production means I have adequate time to save some pennies.

Week on that. Buy an impreza 2L and call it good. I am sure they will have a better motor though.

I actually heard about this just before you posted here. I think it's cool that the performance version will actually be a good margin CHEAPER. God I can't wait for this thing to hit production. A Subaru powerplant in a RWD coupe, such a sick combo. Very few things in life sound better to me than a Subaru with a nice exhaust....mmm Suby rumble.

That is very strange. This car must really be light if they think that 250 HP will keep it competitive.

light or not i wouldnt buy a fun car if it wasnt turbo. the N/a car lose so much up here due to altitude compared ti other similar FI cars, not to mention it is way easier to get extra power out of a turbo car

I agree completely. However if the tuned Toyota version with the turbo makes it to production and to the US, I will be all over that.

agreed, i like the car! i just wish they would get the powertrain correct in the car. I'm starting to lose track of what is going on with all these models now, there is the regular, than a tuned/turbo one, then some other step in the middle, then a possible n/a STi version and whatever else they got going on...

Interview with the car's senior designer which basically dispels the rumor about a redesign or alternative design. Also there's rumors that the production FT-86 will make its appearance at Geneva in just 10 days!

Really glad to hear they aren't going to change it up at the last minute. I wasn't 100% those rumors were true, but stranger things have happened in the automotive world. Really anxious to see what the final layout and interior will look like.

I really hope the tuner model stays that design, that is a really good looking car.

fucking lame

via FT86club.com

the Toyota FT-86 pricing will be higher than originally planned. The FT-86 price will be upped in Japan from the original $20,000 starting price to $23,000 (with a fully loaded FT-86 being approximately $26,000). The FT-86 development team is also planning on reducing fuel consumption from the Subaru boxer engine (instead of increasing power).

Finally, in terms of target demographic, Toyota has now upped the increased target buyer age from 30’s to the 40’s. This is due to Toyota market research which indicated that not as many young buyers would purchase the FT-86 coupe as the company originally predicted.
