(pics in link) http://www.insideline.com/porsche/91...911-gt3-r.html BIRMINGHAM, England — The successor to the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S, dubbed 911 GT3 R, is making its world debut this week at the Racing Car Show Autosport International here. The 911 GT3 R is delivered race-ready to customers by Porsche Motorsports, which said it focused on improving handling and drivability. The new car is based on the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup revealed last fall at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, featuring the wide body of the street-legal 911 GT3 RS. Developed for FIA GT3 competition, the 911 GT3 R is wider and more powerful than its predecessor. It is fitted with a 473-horsepower 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine coupled with a six-speed sequential gearbox. Features include ABS, traction control and e-gas with "throttle blip." Priced from $405,000, plus local taxes, the new model is virtually sold out for 2010, according to Porsche Motorsports sales boss Uwe Brettel. Deliveries begin in the spring. |

That thing looks pretty badass. I am not sure about the 4.0L six but I am sure if I drove it, I would be convinced. Their smaller and older motors are awesome, so I don't know why this one wouldn't be. I think they only offer them to people who previously had cup cars though.

I wonder what they are going to do with the capacity next time. I don't think they can go much bigger on the 6 cylinder.

Man, a naturally aspirated flat six pushing close to 500HP, I can't even imagine what kind of response that thing must have.

if i had the money i would have a really really hard time picking between this and the turbo. i like the turbo for the motor and the fact that it can be easily modded while the N/A motor is super responsive but it will cost 10x as much to make 10x less power, but the rest of the GT3>turbo (like suspension, weight, etc...)
